The Whyalla Club has an active Women’s Group with Match Committee. The Match committee is responsible for organising a number of Annual Events as well as weekly Competitions. Social events and ‘away’ trips complement the Annual program.

WOMEN’S GOLF COMPETITION INFORMATION & CONDITIONS

Competition Fees:
18 Hole: $6.00 Maint. Fee: $5.00
9 Hole: $3.00 Maint. Fee: $3.00

Starting Times:
Tuesday & Thursday Competition: from 9.00 am (winter season)
Tuesday & Thursday Competition: from 8.30 am (summer season or as temperature determines)

Ties:
Unless otherwise stated, ties shall be decided by count-back.

Club Championship:
Stroke. Played over four rounds (in the event of a tie, three hole play off).

Pat O’Brien Trophy:
Handicap event. One qualifying round with first 16 to qualify for match play – full difference of handicap.

Championship Foursomes:
18 holes Stroke play.

Captain’s Trophy:
The best three nett rounds out of four Championship rounds.

Monthly Medal:
The best nett score of the month to be played in two divisions.
Monthly medal winners play off for a trophy at the end of the season.

Putting Competition:
Putts to be counted when taken on specially prepared surface for putting.
In the event of a tie, winner to be decided on countback.

Eclectic:
Trophies given for best nett in each division. Alterations to be made by player and checked by fellow competitor or marker. A full round not necessary for alteration. Played in two divisions. Half handicap on which last round is played will be applied to determine nett score. A player reducing to a lower grade will compete in this grade.

Grandmothers’ Trophy:
Best nett aggregate over two rounds.

Peter Calliss First National Cup:
Best nett aggregate over three rounds. In the event of a tie, play off at same time as Monthly Medal and Silver Spoon.

Golf SA Conditions of Play on notice board.

Laurel Wreath:
Handicap event – knockout – match play, in the event of a match being squared at the 18th, the winner will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play off with the appropriate strokes being given and received. Final to be played on an arranged date.

International Bowl:
Silver and Bronze divisions. (this competition is run to raise money to send Australian golfers overseas). Best one of three 18 hole stroke rounds.

Shylie Rymill:
Handicap foursomes event. Winning pair – lowest nett score. Half combined handicaps used. State wide event and the winning card from each club will be returned to Golf SA. Best nett score within our club will win a Shylie Rymill Brooch each.

GENERAL

Count-Backs:
In the event of a tie in a competition (Stroke, Stableford or Par) where the count-back applies, the order of finishing will be determined by the better score over:

• the last 9 holes, then
• the last 6 holes, then
• the last 3 holes, then
• hole by hole from the last hole.

Cards:
All competition cards must be handed in as soon as possible after which no alterations may be made.

Handicaps:
To obtain a handicap, a player must return 3 cards of 9 or 18 holes in one year.

To regain or retain a handicap, a player must return 3 cards of 18 holes in one year. As of April 2010 Golflink will manage all handicaps.

Your handicap is your own responsibility. Always check your handicap before playing.

Match Play Events:
Strokes given in handicap match play events must give full difference of handicap.

Matches not played by the due date will be automatic disqualification for all concerned.

Women Members’ Handicaps:

Division 1: Scratch to 29
Division 2: 30 – 45
