If you are between 7 and 17 years old, would like to play a non-contact sport and learn the basic skills of driving, chipping and putting, the Whyalla Golf Club has an active Junior golf program for you. The Whyalla Golf Club is soon to become a “Go Go Golf Centre”.
Junior golf training is FREE. It is held from March to August, mostly on Sunday mornings. Some juniors start at 8:30am, others start later. Beginning juniors are taught in small groups. ALL THE COACHING AND COACHING PROGRAMS FOR JUNIORS AND WOMEN ARE FREE, you do not need to be a paid up member of the club.
A special training program has been developed with three levels, and includes the Go Go Golf Certificate. Training continues on hot and wet weather days – an additional set of lessons has been designed for training in the upstairs air-conditioned function room.
If you do not have access to clubs, some junior sets are available to use for free, courtesy of our junior sponsor, at the practice sessions. The Club has Go Go Golf training sets, and many extra irons and putters for use at practice sessions.
Golf Development Coordinator (for women and juniors) is Allan Slater. Many club members are assisting with the coaching, and have completed Community Level 1 Coaching Certificates. Allan can be contacted on Mob: 0407978454 or Home: (08) 86452029, or email: email@example.com
All juniors, (newcomers, beginners and those with handicaps), are invited to the subsidized Eyre Peninsula Junior Golf Camp, held in Port Lincoln on one long weekend each year, usually during a long weekend of the first term school vacation.
Juniors with handicaps may join adult competitions at the Whyalla Golf Club and other Clubs. Junior competitions are also held regularly on Eyre Peninsula and around the state.
The annual fee for a junior who wants to join is just $70. The annual fee for a junior who wants to play in the senior (adult) competitions is $110.
Junior players and their support members, advance on the 10th during a Junior Open Championship.
The 2016 Championship will be held on Saturday 20th of August. A flyer and Registration form for this event is available for download under ‘Forms & Documents‘ on this website.
